When I see all of these anti-dust514 trolls on the forums I think about how gamers now **** block more games than a gay best friends **** blocks a hot chick's dates...
Dust looks great! the fact that ppl are complaining about this and that and none of us have ever even played it let alone seen something like it is just a mass troll IMO
It is the first title of a what will most likely be an FPS franchise on the consoles. and a good one or else they wouldn't even bother with it.

Well, I haven't touched my PS3 in some time and I am looking forward to it, I don't understand why everyone is *****ing. I have fun playing Eve and I'm sure I'll have fun playing Dust as well.
idk either I can enjoy both Dust and EvE so I am set... I want to get crackin on getting some people ready for it tho most of the noobs on the forums will alt rage quit the min they get popped in the head by a small nuke.
plus the building here[EvE] for the mercs[Dust514]might be just what the doc ordered.
and crapbox has Master Chief and pretty avatars and that is fine, Ps3 has HOME and free stuff if you are cheap(which you most likely are) and the SONY has been at it for longer so it WOULD be them to bring MMOs to a console gamer.
lastly I like how all the trolls against a Dust514 complain about having to get a Ps3 for DUST, then again you had to get a PC to run EvE...
or is there an EvE client that runs on space? DUST CREWÖ [Wordpress]

More like buying a PS3 wich i already outdated and basically powered by 5+ year old technology inside it, and as for combat you actually bring up a good point...
We have all sorts of planets in the game right, from ice planets, to water planets, plasma, volcanic and gas giants, as well as temperate planets built much like the earth right?, and the video's of dust 514 show just that with combat on a temperate planet.
So how do we fight in those other types of planets, wich some types can be considered true hellholes that require specialised equipement that isn't needed for regular planets....Do we fight underwater on a water planet?, or how about a volcanic one without burning to a crisp as soon as a soldier sets foot on it...then there's gaseous planets where the gravity alone crushes pretty much anything(look at jupiter for an example), and visibility would be a huge problem here...
Stuff that CCP hasn't bothered releasing any information about you know, and there are a lot of those planets in the game right now afterall...
I posted something not too long ago, that which you just listed as far as PI and planet surface interaction goes is the reason why this game has so much potential. The DL content alone will be able to draw attention if it is well delivered and ppl will buy it for the fun of it.
Imagine certain battlegrounds are in the middle of a sand storm on a barren planet, visibility is at zero and you know there X amount of "others" with you, death is certain respawn is a maybe if you don't lag or rage quit. And you know for a fact the next thing that moves within sight will get a slug to face and chest...
Who cares if its PS3 at first if it catches once it wont be for long unless it becomes such a power-house that the last thing you would worry about is getting a Ps3 to play it(by that I mean a Ps4 that looks something like Metal Gear Rex and sounds like Godzilla (to name drop a just a bit) )

Originally by: Celgar Thurn The most up to date info on DUST514 is available on http://dust514base.blogspot.com/ as opposed to the official CCP site which is still good but not as informative. Re. DigitalWanderers question as to which planet types will feature as the battlezones in DUST514 this has also been answered on the 'dust514base' site. The plasma, lava, storm, gas,& barren planet classes will be considered too hostile for the DUST514 mercs to land on. So only the temperate class of planets will be used. This is not so bad though if you take planet Earth as an example which has many different types of terrains and climates.
Regarding Kurath's OP I imagine CCP's reasoning is to do with attracting more people to the EVE universe. Also I suspect more FPS games are played on consoles than the PC so having the game on the PS3 will result in more people playing DUST514. Having the game just on PS3 would also be more attractive financially for Sony/Playstation as well. And last but not least there are the technological reasons as regards Microsoft which have been mentioned mostly as the reasoning behind the decision.
I don't have a PS3 but I will get one to play DUST514 depending on how the DUST514 and EVE Online games are going to be 'connected' together in terms of the economy & sovereignty issues.
re calculates bazooka trajectory from space to your head at about "not too far" marskmen headshot at about 79% per shot taken. reload time is acceptable...
if what you say is true... nothing but temperate planets... not bad.
its going to be too easy from the start and that small chance you had at giving all the ranting and raving trolls equal grounds V. FpS fans is completely blown to...well...dust.
It is going to be a blood bath.
(yet I doubt this game will have any blood at all.)

This thread is ment to target the topic of having Dust compatable with PC to include the eve playerbase. Any arguement involving Dust's market, purpose, graphics engin, or what ever else is only mildly relavent. The point is not their advertisement, the point is including the eve online playerbase in a game that effects eve online. Alot of you have made very good points but the primary concern is that our playerbase can have the opportunity to experience this new CCP game without having to drop half a grand.
The EvE player and Dust514 merc interaction over the PC and beyond is a natural course of action if CCP is planning on banking on DUST for consoles. the EvE online player base will have to essentially opt to "play" DUST not necessarily get on the FPS and wage war rather support the troops on the ground from EVE by maintaining an economy that allows for PMC warfare which is what DUST seems to be hinting at. It's all about money, greed and power (CCP & Sony).
You forgot about not giving a crap about the eve storyline or the content introduced with previous patches and expansions, and i'm sure they'll adapt the storyline yet again to somehow make DUST 514 actually relevant to eve ...
Aliances fight over entire solar systems, clusters and even entire regions that can contain hundreds of planets and moons, in prolonged warfare campaigns that can last months, and those same aliances are supposed to care about individual planets now...
listen your alliance needs that entire "crew" inside the Drake and mining barges, not to mention every last janitor to clean up after you crap all over.
You all trolling against having to put in work to keep your colony instead of just winning a small skirmish and claiming sovereignty because that is what warfare is like...
mmmmhmmm mmmmmk want a helmet and a seat belt also?

Point is that CCP on the official dust514 site has alredy gone on the record as stating that fighting in dust 514 will limit itself to temperate planets, and not all the other types wich are currently used for PI production, and is part of the eve stoyline(like it or hate it) and i can only assume it'll be the link between EVE and dust 514 in terms of the fighting on the planet surface actually making an impact in eve at all.
So this new and unreleased game is alredy ignoring aspects that are now part of eve by having no fighting on all types of planets for control of their resources, and that alone would make dust 514 a much more complete game as it adds envionment variability to combat tactics....What works in one planet won't necessarily work on a diferent planet with differences such as gravity, visibility, atmospheric composition and differences in terrain requiring different equipment..
Fighting doesn't resume to a specific type of planet in short...
Dont worry I know exactly where you are coming from as I want to shot you into a lava pit just as much as you want to gank me in my noob ship, fact of the matter is CCP can set all the limits it wants as far as the game is concerned.
US who make up the majority of the game culture(which is pretty damn well mature at this point cannot be as closed minded as they could very damn well end up being with this title. if it sucks it sucks and it will be dropped from radar so fast even those crappy mini games will get a kick out of it.
bottom line:
Let it hit the market then limit your sights to whats in front, until then freeball it so "they" know we have a pulse. House of Kahn on the Web-matrix

I'd love to tractor your ship into a planet like venus for instance, once it's been disabled and with you still inside of course, and as it goes into the atmosphere, it gets crushed to the size of a beer can due to the immense pressure, but that's my twisted imagination at work here...
But it's stuff lik being limited to a single planet type, is PS3 exclusive and there's no PC port in the plans, and visually it is nice but nothing mind blowing either, that's not really getting me all that excited about it overall, certainly not 1 year before it's launch....
Too much effort and I would have to actually verbally say "Tractor Beam That Ho." And that wouldn't sound right.
I'd rather just get a hired merc from DUST to take a shuttle to your current local where I would be waiting with his armament and the next thing you know your brains outside your head and decorating the inside of your CQ. House of Kahn on the Web-matrix

Wouldn't work either since unless i'm mistaken, CCP won't allow weapons in stations once more sections of incarna are released, so ordering hits on people while in station isn't happening unfortunately, unlike what the video of incarna showed...It's got to happen outside while i'm in a ship...
Disabling a ship by targetting and destroying subsystems was discussed plenty of times over the years with CCP, but never implemented unfortunately.....That's what also has be ****ed to be honest, as there's still so much stuff to release in EVE content, wich has kept CCP alive for 8+ years now, and the main focus is on a risky new game release for single console at the end of it's lifespan, as it shouldn't be long until the PS4 is released anyhow.
I am sure there wont be any weaps on Hi-Sec Stations but in low-sec even CONCORD cant keep things orderly... only a matter of time chief before we call see what you inside really look like... floating in space or splattered on a wall if it doesn't disintegrate by irradiated magnum shells. This is CCP we're talking about here so making sense if it affects their plans for an expansion or a new game doesn't really matter, and as an exmple.... why are there concord customs offices even around planets in 0.0 space or wormhole space for that matter, when concord has no jurisdiction over both of them at all in the first place, yet they are there and collecting taxes and offering no protection at all...
They should only have juridiction in high sec empire to be honest... low sec empire should be the jurisdiction of individual faction navies in terms of customs offices orbiting planets located there, not concord for the same reason as in 0.0 or wormhole space...
cant disagree with you here and I have noted that as well... Personally I would like to launch the idiot who thought that one up into space myself. out of a cannon*
